A Happy and Healthy New Year Begins
The second semester of our school year began with the introduction of a Beginner Yoga class, which after six sessions will progress to a Moderate Flow practice. Over 21 staff members are participating in the class. Our three original offerings―Yin, Restorative, and Hatha/Vinyasa Flow-have started up again, and enrollment continues to increase.
In February we will expand to our Hackensack campus, offering two classes to faculty and staff, and we are in the process of arranging a late afternoon Beginner Yoga class for administrative and clerical staff at our administration building.
In a very short time, these classes have produced positive impacts on our school community. People have shared with us their enthusiasm and their commitment to continue a yoga or exercise program in the future. People who have some physical limitations have been amazed at what they are able to do with modified yoga poses. A community centered around health and physical activity is beginning to take shape. We hope to see this expand even further when we launch our planned activities in the Community Garden this spring.
