Ask the Doctor!
Shaping Dover, supported by funding from Atlantic Health System as part of the New Jersey Healthy Communities Network, and the Morris County Family Success Center (both programs of the Partnership for Maternal and Child Health) hosted our first “Ask the Doctor” panel. In an effort to promote healthy early child development in New Jersey, Atlantic Health Systems as part of the NJPRAC Program held a Food Allergies Workshop.
Parents suggested the topic of food allergies which they considered an extremely important health subject to learn about from professionals. In this first workshop, 26 attendees learned about food allergies; including symptoms, causes, diagnosis, risk factors, anaphylaxis, prevention and treatment.
After the presentation, provided by Morristown Health Center pediatricians, the attendees also learned how to prepare healthy and hypo-allergenic desserts. This section of the workshop encouraged everyone to prepare daily nutritious meals. With just a few minor changes, you can help boost energy levels and maintain a healthy life-style. At the end of the workshop, attendees were fascinated with all the new information they obtained and they reported planning to participate in future workshops.
We would like to thank all attendees and collaborators for this successful event and extend an invitation for all our future activities.
