Audubon’s 2019 Goals
We are off to a great start in 2019. For our healthy snack stand initiative, we had a wonderful meeting with the nutritionist and representatives for all three organizations (softball, baseball and soccer). We had a much better turn out, interest and understanding from the organizations this year. Everyone seemed really enthused to offer our athletes and their families healthy alternatives. There was a really good exchange of ideas by all and our nutritionist was really able to provide guidance with purchasing options as well as how to handle pricing and signage at the stands. All the organizations are able to carry over any remaining money from last year to really take advantage of this incentive and provide real results again this year.
Our bike racks are on schedule to be installed in April. There was a minor detail that needed to be adjusted in the contracts with the School Board and the local private businesses. Liability was obviously a major concern and our solicitor revised the contract and we are now waiting for all contracts to be returned signed and then install should follow shortly after.
Audubon High School and the Audubon Historical Society have teamed up once again to scan additional documents and to assist with finding pictures and documentation for Audubon’s Walk-through History. More time and concentration are needed on this project in April in order to achieve our long-term goals.
In March, several of us put our heads together with our engineers and an outside agency to look over our needs for the playground equipment and additions to the Audubon Recreation Center grounds. We have some time to think things over and make some decisions, but the meeting was very productive. We are looking forward to a successful 2019!
