Blog 4- Tower Garden and Pickleball
Central – Samantha Bunsa and Toni Lewis
Since the last blog we have been playing/teaching more pickleball. Due to Covid and summer camps being virtual we are unable to use students. The Long Branch Recreation Department and Monmouth County Pickleball Association have been holding open play along with lessons for community members. Open play is seven days a week in the mornings and again at night. We have been averaging about 15-20 people playing during each secession.
All teachers have received their tower gardens and have been growing. Due to Covid the LED lights are still on back order so most have grown outside. Two teachers are waiting for the lights and want to grow in hopes that schools will open in September and they will grow in the classrooms with their students. If schools re-open in the fall I will implement my original plan with the students and the teachers. If the schools are delayed, we will continue with the virtual learning.
