Working Together

The Shaping Dover team is working hard to do everything possible to make the Healthy Taste of Dover event a dream come true for this summer. Three members of our team (including two volunteers) went to every local restaurant to attempt to recruit their participation; we hope to have them provide free samples of their healthy menu items to local residents during the event. While walking the streets of Dover and engaging residents, we confirmed that the community is very interested in change; to have access to healthier food options and to maintain an active lifestyle. The wonderful news is that the restaurants in our community are interested and willing to help us make that possible.

The Township of Dover announced that 2017 will be the Year of the Youth. During the last Shaping Dover meeting, the town’s Recreation Department was present and informed us about new events that their program would be running. We mutually decided to partner together for all events; starting with the garden project where the youth will be able to cultivate different types of vegetables. There will also be basketball and volleyball tournaments and the Crescent Field Park will have the soccer/football field open to the public on the weekends for all families.

Our team is very enthusiastic about the events we’ll have this year, because not only will the youth be participating but people of all ages will be encouraged to take advantage of the events as well.
