Bringing Community Together at the Wayne Farmer’s Market

Wayne Township is set to open its first ever Farmer’s Market on Saturday, June 1st.  There is a lot of excitement around the opening from the entire Wayne community – young and old alike.  The Wayne Farmer’s Market will be a true community convener, bringing together all ages every week to purchase fresh food and other goods, enjoy entertainment, and socialize with neighbors.

“Not only will the Farmer’s Market bring fresh produce to the Wayne community for the first time, the Market will also bring people together like no other event or program the town has seen before,” says Cathy Scutti, Fitness & Wellness Director at the Wayne YMCA.

The Wayne Farmer’s Market is a true community collaboration, Scutti explains.  With funding from Atlantic Health System as part of the New Jersey Healthy Communities Network, along with assistance from Wayne Township and the Wayne YMCA, the Wayne Farmer’s Market has become a reality.

Conveniently located at the Wayne Township’s Municipal Complex parking lot and across the street from various senior adult housing facilities, the Wayne Farmer’s Market will be a weekend destination that is accessible to everyone from June through October.

“Each Saturday will bring different entertainment so there will be something for everyone,” says Jill Goordman, Farmer’s Market Manager, “Shoppers will enjoy a Magic Show one week, a rock and roll band the next, and so on.”
