The physical work to implement the improvements surrounding Opatut Park in Freehold Township have begun! Getting to this process was not an easy road, so the reward feels extra sweet! This improvement project is now being funding in phases, with the hope of including additional capital funding in the 2020 budget to support the remaining work. Collectively, this work will allow for safer access to both entrances of Opatut Park and the YMCA parking lot. Additionally, a pedestrian crossing on East Freehold Road will allow for easier, more convenient access to these rich community assets to residents in neighboring housing communities. Breaking ground on this work is such an important step in increasing access and use of the wonderful Freehold Township park system.
