COVID-19 Vaccine- What You Need to Know!
On February 18, 201, Representative Mikie Sherrill from New Jersey’s 11th District (parts of Essex, Morris, Passaic and Sussex) hosted a virtual roundtable discussion with Black community leaders focused on the disparate impact of COVID-19 on our communities of color, and how we can most effectively address the barrier that exists in terms of access to healthcare, support and opportunities for COVID relief.
Dr. Christina Johnson of Maplewood Family Medicine was part of this roundtable discussion. Sherill’s conversation with Dr. Johnson is about the intersection of race and COVID-19, especially the disproportionate impact on people of color. Dr. Johnson has been instrumental in the vitality of the Family Wellness Initiative at Family Promise Union County for the past five years. Recently, she hosted a COVID-19 Vaccine ZOOM meeting for clients who are part of the Family Promise Union County emergency shelter program. With these sessions, Dr. Christina is providing science, data and conversation with the hope that those who are skeptical of the vaccine may find reassurance and solid answers in their quest for making an informed decision about whether or not to be vaccinated.
