Earth Day and more…
Happy Spring – the blooming trees and flowers make us feel hopeful for better months to come! We are thrilled to have the help and support of Chef Cindy Groman from Wegmans as we look to provide our families with simple ways to incorporate health and wellness into their daily lives. Cindy recently spent time (virtually) with our permanent affordable housing families discussing strategies for creating healthy, delicious, budget friendly meals. We learned how to take the contents of a food bag and, with a few simple additions, turn it into an array of manageable and delicious meals. Cindy shared ideas for substituting ingredients not only to add flexibility to recipes but, in many cases, to boost a meals nutrition.
We will be celebrating Earth Day this year by planting vegetables and flowers with our kids. Part of the celebration will involve providing the kids with a chance to see and try the vegetables that they are planting. The kids will also be tasked with making sure that everyone in the building is doing their part to recycle.
All the best from all of us at HomeFront – enjoy these warm and beautiful days!
