Exercise While Learning in Class
Lincoln Park Middle School, like most schools during the pandemic, is teaching classes like physical education during the virtual classes while children are at home. While children are in school they are focusing on the core subjects of math, language arts, science and social studies. While this is less than ideal for our physical education classes, the teachers have done an outstanding job, but some students are not participating or putting forth the effort that they should be. While social distancing is still a must, we are using a portion of our grant to provide cycle desks for some of our classrooms. These allow students to pedal away while they are working. These can be used in regular education classes as well as special needs classes where expending energy while working sometimes helps students to stay focused.
About the Grantee
Lincoln Park Public Schools is comprised of two buildings, Lincoln Park Elementary School and Lincoln Park Middle School. The students in both buildings have benefited in a myriad of ways for the opportunities this grant has provided for our students.
