Getting Ready for Another Successful Pop-up Farm Stand Season!

Getting Ready for Another Successful Pop-up Farm Stand Season!

Grow It Green Morristown remains committed to providing fresh, local food and outdoor community spaces to all area residents, and to that end, we are excited to launch another successful Pop-up Farm Stand season. This summer, we’ll be bringing our farm-fresh produce grown locally at our Urban Farm out into Morristown’s neighborhoods. At the Pop-up Stand, we’ll be offering double SNAP benefits (formerly food stamps) on produce sold at our farm stand. We are always seeking new and improved ways to reach people that would benefit most from our affordable, fresh food.

With input from our partners that work in the census tract, we have identified two areas to set up shop. Every Thursday beginning in July, our Pop-up Farm Stand will be located on a rotating basis at the Early Street Community Garden and the Neighborhood House – high foot traffic areas. Having two locations will provided enough access for area residents, but will be a less confusing schedule to follow than last year. In any event, we always have the option to relocate the Pop-up Stand if a better opportunity arises to meet people where they live and work!

With the locations determined and the necessary permits in place, all that’s left to do is continue preparing our produce! Fortunately, the weather has been in our favor this season, and our farmers are hard at work now prepping, planting, and weeding to make sure we have the freshest food for our neighbors. Be on lookout this summer and fall for our Grow It Green truck and Pop-up Farm Stand!

The program is supported by funding from Atlantic Health System as part of the New Jersey Healthy Communities Network.
