Happy Fall Y’all!

Autumn has officially arrived and the City Green’s Veggie Mobile is open for business. While most of the local markets have closed for the season, we are still going strong.  Our market will be open until November 15th and patrons are excited for the opportunity to get fresh fruits and veggies as well as weekly specials like apple cider, fresh eggs and homemade pickles.

We have become a staple on the Caldwell Green. We have people who pass by and regulars who stop to shop before hitting the local supermarket.  Our senior customers love the idea of having fresh fruits and vegetable right outside the senior center.  They have been raving about having fresh options literally steps away from their programs and activities.  They know our prices and selection cannot be beat!

We have been enticing food pantry clients to visit the Veggie Mobile with “Veggie Mobile Bucks”. At their first visit to the truck, we offer the opportunity to buy $4 worth of produce with these “Bucks” for free.  This allows us to meet our goals to giving access to healthy eating options to those who are food insecure.

As we enter into the fall months, the City Green’s Veggie Mobile continues to be a great asset to our community. Residents express excitement about the upcoming seasonal harvest and the possibility of creating new healthy recipes.

This program is sponsored by the Caldwell Health Department in conjunction with the New Jersey Healthy Communities Network and is funded by a grant from the Partners for Health Foundation, whose vision is to make our communities healthier, better places to live.
