Leveraging Funds to Do More
The Freehold Township Mayor’s Wellness Campaign has continued work with partners within Freehold Township throughout 2018. A very important “win” in the streetscape design project has occurred – approval to use Capitol Funding to complete the job! The proposed improvements around Opatut Park on East Freehold Road was initially broken into 3 projects, with 3 proposed cost calculations. The Healthy Communities Grant funds would only allow one to be completed. The addition of the capitol funds will allow the full 3-part project to be completed. This means a lighted crossing, additional sidewalk paths and safer crossings at both entrance and exits to the park and the neighboring YMCA. Work in continuing with engineering and planning to move the project from proposal to reality.
