Moving Children to Good Health: Physical Activity for Young Children

Building on lessons learned from “Moving Children to Good Health: Physical Activity for Young Children”, early childhood teachers at the Boys & Girls Club of Clifton are implementing several strategies to improve physical activity behaviors in preschool and school age children. The strategies include a minimum of 60 minutes and up to several hours of daily, unstructured (free play) activity; 60 minutes daily of structured (teacher lead) active play, and having children not be inactive more than one hour at a time unless napping. Children participate in yoga classes, swimming and free play soccer practice and other gym activities on a weekly basis. Little bodies, big impact.
