Our Journey To A Healthier Future
Healthy Elsinboro is focused on active living and healthy eating. In our previous blog, More Than A Playground, we shared the active living part of our strategy. We are excited to share that we are making progress. We are actively working on our joint use agreement. In fact, our first draft has been created and is currently with the school district for review. We are excited to be making progress on this aspect of our program. For our program to be successful, we need to ensure this agreement is in place.
Supported through the New Jersey Healthy Communities Network Community Grants Program and the Salem Health and Wellness Foundation, our Healthy Elsinboro initiative also includes completing a community nutrition assessment. As a rural community, identifying the available nutritional resources can often be difficult. Part 2 of our initiative focuses on identifying the gaps and opportunities related to nutrition within our community. Once the assessment is complete, we will be able to focus future programs on areas of opportunity. Using the local school system, we are able to leverage existing resources to make this initiative successful.
Our Healthy Elsinboro Committee is working hard to ensure that we are creating a comprehensive program that benefits the entire community.
