Perseverance begets Progress
Here we are, mid-July 2021, and we are finally beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel!
We are happy to report that in mid-June we were finally able to disseminate the Health and Wellness Assessment to the community! Even better news than that, we were absolutely delighted with the robust response we received. The initial assessment was delivered via town-wide eblast to over 9,000 members, with a subsequent emailing to a more focused group of residents with special needs children, as well as special needs educators, teaching within the district.
Within the Assessment, we asked residents if they would be interested in learning more about our mission as well as assisting us in achieving our goals. We had an overwhelming response! Many of those that responded were former educators, members of the medical field, civic organization members, and advocates for the special need’s population. We could not have been more thrilled! We have since formed a well-rounded focus group and have scheduled our initial meeting for June 20th. There are so many extremely talented and passionate individuals involved, many of them with years of experience assisting with this population.
One of the first members of the community who responded to the Assessment was a long time Nutley resident that has decades of experience and service in the field. We were especially pleased, as she was someone that we had in mind to tap from the very beginning. Her institutional knowledge, passion and dedication is exactly what is needed to lead and navigate this group in the necessary direction, and more importantly, to ensure that what needs to get done most certainly will get done! The overall message we received from the response is that Nutley is still the caring, involved and tight knit community it always has been. We have renewed confidence that this is something that is very much needed in our community and will prove to be a very positive experience for the Township and its very special residents!
