Preparation in Vauxhall Community Garden for 2020
The Vauxhall Community Garden is entering its third year of gardening; we had anticipated going into our third year it would have been much easier than the prior two years. However with the coronavirus pandemic it has been challenging so far. This year we included more involvement from the community by donating garden boxes for personal use, encouraging exercise while taking care of their personal garden boxes. Golden Rule will maintain garden boxes in order to continue donating fresh vegetables to Golden Kitchen Food Pantry as well as the community. The Golden Kitchen Food Pantry, located at 221 Oswald Pl, Vauxhall, NJ donates non perishable food on the second Saturday of each month from 10:00 Am – 12:00 PM to needy families in our community.
We have received seeds and seedling donations from Groundworks Elizabeth. This was our first year planting seeds and so far no plants (trial and error) however we look forward to planting our seedlings. We also have plants on order from a Nursery. We look forward to this year’s garden produce so that we can continue to assist our Food Pantry, as well as the Vauxhall Community.
“This work is supported by funding from Atlantic Health System as part of the New Jersey Healthy Communities Network.”
