Staying Safe Today and Planning for the Future
Greetings from HomeFront! I love reading my fellow grantee blogs – there is so much creativity and dedication out there, never more needed than now. As we struggle to keep up with the current needs of the families we serve, we are also thinking about the future and how to take this time to build programs that are even more focused on health and wellness. Over the past few weeks we have created a formal curriculum for our teaching kitchen which includes 10 healthy, budget friendly recipes along with shopping lists and tips on the most economic way to access food. As we don’t know when our regular programming will resume, we decided to engage current residents at our family campus by asking them to give their feedback on the recipes we have chosen. Residents will have the chance to rate recipes and provide feedback. Not only do we welcome their opinions, we also want to keep everyone focused on a future that will once again include time spent together.
As we plan for the future, we also continue to take this time to educate our families on how to stay safe and healthy. Staff and residents at our family campus are wearing masks, practicing social distancing and going to every length to keep the building clean.
Best wishes to all of you as you manage and adapt your projects during this difficult time!
