Thankful for Continued Progress
The Division of Senior Services has continued moving forward in implementing the much anticipated walking program in the Borough of Franklin. We were hoping to perhaps begin a program prior to the end of the year, but unfortunately, the manuals needed for the participants are backordered and we expect them to be delivered by the end of the year. Accordingly, we are working on an alternative location to possibly hold the first program after the New Year, otherwise, we will hold off on implementing this 1st Walk With Ease program until closer to the spring.
Continued research is also being conducted in order to find suitable equipment in order to implement a year round Community Garden at the Franklin Senior Center. We have been able to find systems which appear to be ideal, and are currently in the process of checking on availability, pricing and installation related information. We have also approached seniors in the community regarding their thoughts of a year round Community Garden and we have received much enthusiasm for the proposed project.
The program is supported by funding from Atlantic Health System as part of the New Jersey Healthy Communities Network.
