The Sensory Garden is Taking Shape!
As the beginning of the school year approached we met in the courtyard garden at Merriam Avenue School to start work on our sensory garden. It was a beautiful sunny day and we were fortunate to have amazing volunteers to help kick off our project. Jennifer Salt and Lauren Sprich from SNAP ED helped to weed the garden beds, mulch and plant Mums.
Home Projects by Bill LLC donated time and installed a fountain and hung sensory boards to the walls. This was a great start to the project!
We are still waiting on several structural items such as ramps and fencing but we are hopeful that these items will arrive soon and we can continue to work on developing the space.
Merriam Avenue students will be learning virtually until October 2nd, but the staff returned to the building yesterday and have enjoyed taking a mask break in the garden.
