The Work is Never Done…

I am very excited about the work that our organization, the Raritan Valley YMCA, accomplished through this grant and its future implications. As equity and justice moves forward for those challenged with limited mobility and disability, we look forward to new exercise and wellness opportunities for those with physical challenges.  We will seek additional collaborative partnerships to bring greater awareness and attention to the needs of this community. We also pledge to continue to promote the work that was accomplished through the mapped trail project
Together, we will continue to advocate for inclusivity, equity and the resources to live healthy and independent lives with safe and accessible communities. Further, we will work to educate and elevate community voices so that there are places that accommodate those with physical limitations and to encourage government policy to expand requirements for construction of accessible areas.
The Y’s accessible walk/roll mapping project supports those with limited mobility in overcoming access barriers for enabling policy and environmental change that can help resolve social determinants to health. This work was possible through New Jersey Healthier Communities Network with grant funding through the New Jersey Division of Disability Services.
