Walking in Elizabeth Spring Break Presentation
This spring break two college students spent their Alternative Spring Break working with us on building and presenting the community assessment of the Catherine/William Street neighborhood in Elizabeth as part of the Walking in Elizabeth project. The presentation included updates to the walkability and food access environments of the neighborhood in story map format. Other details included in the story map show changes in the neighborhood and lists recommendations i.e. waste can locations and signage.
Presentations were made to three groups during the following weeks. These presentations allowed us to spread their message to residents, local business owners and stakeholders. Regarding food access and quality of life, the story map format provides visual support for what infrastructure is needed for walking to food access stores in our area. The presentations provided a great opportunity for our project to disseminate information, to listen and learn from invested parties.
Our story map presentation took the form of a GIS story map allowing pictures maps and text to be combined into a seamless presentation. The picture above comes from one of the maps that was created during the week. The story map be viewed by entering this link https://arcg.is/1XD1LG.
