Wellness Programs at HomeFront Family Campus
Happy 2019 to everyone!
We are off to a healthy start this year with resolutions to continue adding opportunities for our families to make positive changes. We continue to offer our “We Love You Wednesday” healthy food choices. We have used the success of this program to engage our volunteers and the community to help us offer healthy food options on Fridays as well. We have had some success in asking local businesses and corporations to sponsor a Friday salad bar.
Our fitness class gets a little bigger every week – we especially love when the kids get involved. In addition to our two weekly fitness classes, we now have a volunteer that runs a weekly group called Relaxation and Meditation for Success. Through this group, our clients are gaining the tools to work through anxiety and stress – with the hopes of positive effects on long term health.
Goals for the coming month include adding some new options to our vegetable garden, restarting our walking club as soon as the weather allows, and finding more ways to involve our kids in organized sports. We have also started to process of forming a Step dance team, hopefully my next blog will include a photo!
About the Grantee
HomeFront’s mission is to end homelessness in Central New Jersey by harnessing the caring, resources and expertise of the community. We lessen the immediate pain of homelessness and help families become self-sufficient. We work to give our clients the skills and opportunities to ensure adequate incomes, and we work to increase the availability of adequate, affordable housing.
