Woodbury Market & Move!

What do you get when you combine local farm vendors, fresh produce, health services, and free family activities?  A GREAT Farmer’s Market!  The YMCA of Gloucester County is looking forward to hosting its first ever Farmer’s Market in the City of Woodbury for the 2019 season.  Thanks to the New Jersey Healthy Communities Network and our funder, SNAP, we will be able to bring fresh produce vendors to the City of Woodbury and surrounding communities.  Over the next year, we will be working diligently to prepare for the upcoming market season.

In the meantime, we are excited to be improving upon our Healthy Eating and Physical Activity (HEPA) standards in our summer day camp.  This summer, we are providing nutrition education and physical activity to nearly 200 kids each day in our camp.  We can do so with thanks to materials from the USDA, SNAP Education, and the Catch Kids Club model.  Our campers are also learning to plant and harvest various fruits, vegetables, and flowers in our new gardening program.  This program is made possible through a partnership with the Gloucester County Health Department Certified Gardeners Association.

Here at the Y, we know that changing the culture of health in our community does not come easy.  And it definitely doesn’t come without the three “P’s”- patience, perseverance, and most importantly, PARTNERS.  Without our partners, these community projects would not be feasible.  We are looking forward to doing more for our community with the help of The City of Woodbury, The Gloucester County Health Department, SNAP Ed, and all our potential partners and vendors yet to come!

If you or someone you know would be interested in being a vendor at our Farmer’s Market next season, or for general inquiries about our market, please contact Tyler Marchei at tmarchei@ymcagloco.org.
