Community Working Together

Hello from HomeFront!

I hope you are all safe and well! It is hard to believe how much has changed since last posting.  HomeFront, like organizations around the country, has been adapting our operations on an almost hourly basis to make sure we continue to care for those most in need in our community (we even have residents at our campus sewing masks for healthcare workers – see photo).  We rely so much on our volunteers and partners to help us make each day at our Family Campus enriching and productive – never has that been more obvious than when they cannot be here!  Our staff has done an incredible job keeping everyone as safe as we possibly can but we certainly miss the programs that bring texture to each day.   Many of our staff members are working on keeping children focused on their school work and assisting parents as they plan for future education and employment.  Other staff members, in collaboration with our volunteers and community partners, are taking this time to put some extra thought into our programming and what it will look like when things return to normal. Our amazing Chef Chris is working on an exciting new curriculum for our teaching kitchen made up of affordable, healthy meals that can be prepared by families facing time and budgeting challenges.  As Chris says, “We’re all looking forward to getting back in the teaching kitchen with a new appreciation for what being healthy means to all of us.”

Best wishes to all of you – we are, as always, so proud to be a part of this amazing network!
