Dreaming of Summer? YUP!

Already dreaming of next summer? We are!  Our nutrition strategy will focus on increasing access to fresh produce throughout our community.  In partnership with the Neighborhood Connections to Health Coalition, data has been collected throughout the Freehold Community since July.  The survey considers issues with food security, but also evaluating preferences for produce items and locations for a mobile farmers market.  This information is already helping to move our plans forward.  At the same time, a Freehold Township Senior Center van will soon be “retired,” allowing our group to transform it into our Mobile Farmers Market.  Best practices and lessons learned are also being gathered from other organizations and communities using this mobile market model.  Planning continues to determine the logistical specifics, with the goal of beginning weekly market stops in late spring, 2019.
