Feeling the Beat

Our health is improved if we perform physical activity on a regular basis. Exercising increases our energy while reducing our risk of health complications. It’s never too late to start practicing a physical activity, but it’s important to start as soon as possible.

To help our residents with their fitness goals, the Shaping Dover team added a new workshop to our calendar. Taking into consideration that more than 70% of Dover’s population is Latino we decided to offer free Zumba classes to the Dover community and its surroundings on the first and third Thursdays of every month. Zumba Fitness is a Latin inspired cardio dance workout that uses music and choreographed steps to form a fitness party atmosphere. Around 10 people started attending our Zumba classes, and now we have about 30 to 40 participants coming to each session.

We believe that what makes our classes successful is that participants of all ages join us in a non-intimidating,  easy going class that while challenging is also motivating, fun and easy to follow.

Teresa, our Zumba instructor, makes exercising fun!  The music is great, Teresa’s energy is infectious and the people who come to the workshop are all warm and supportive.  It’s a great overall workout that makes everyone feel great afterwards. So simple, yet so amazing!
