Harvesting in Small Spaces

This Summer, CATA has harvested: 58 radishes, 55 beets, 21 lbs. of tomato, 27 lbs. of tomatillo, 25 bunches of papalo, 7 squashes, 5 bunches of swiss chard, 10 bunches of cilantro, 5 bunches of epazote, 23 carrots, 2 lbs. of peas, 1 lb. of potatoes, and 2 bunches of chamomile. All of this produce was harvested from 4 of the 5 raised beds we rented from the Hammonton Community Garden. the produce was distributed among the Latino Community.

Our organization - CATA - The Farmworkers' Support Committee was founded by migrant farmworkers in Southern New Jersey in 1979. The mission of CATA is to educate workers about their rights and support them as they develop and exercise leadership skills in order to create a better life for themselves and their communities.
