Healthy Options are Around the Corner
Community Connections is about building stronger connections between the healthy eating and active living initiatives we have in New Brunswick so that our city residents can hear about and benefit from every available opportunity for healthy living.
We have been supporting the healthy corner store movement in New Brunswick because the residents in the city shop at the corner stores quite often. Nine Hub City Fresh Healthy Corner Stores participate in the ongoing initiative to provide healthier foods for the residents. In addition to fresh produce, Hub City Fresh stores help their customers by highlighting the other healthier food and beverage options through “Healthy Selection” signs that customers can find next to the products in the stores. Customers also find free recipes in the participating stores and even get to taste a recipe right at the store to give them new ideas about enjoying these foods at home.
