Increasing Physical Activity at Home for Students
Due to the current health crisis, the Bridgeton Public Schools has determined that the most effective way to increase student’s physical activity is to make it easier for them to be physically active at home. We have used grant funds to purchase small pieces of equipment that can easily and effectively be used by students at home to increase their physical activity. These items will be handed out through the food distribution sites established over the past 6 months and will include instruction sheets and ideas on how to incorporate these items into physical activities. For example, periodically with their food allocation students will receive chalk, resistance bands or other items along with age appropriate instructions and play ideas to guide users on different ways to use the item to support physical activity. These items have been ordered and plans are to begin distribution of the equipment and instruction sheets in January 2021.
