Looking Forward into 2019

There are so many exciting projects that are taking place in Audubon thanks to this generous grant.  December has become our planning month to make sure that all goals will be reached by the end of 2019.

Bike racks all should be installed by the spring.  We will continue to work with the Historical Society, Library and High School to perfect Audubon’s Walk through History project.  We hope for a successful, healthy showing at the snack stands for all three sports organizations and will host meetings for coaches and parents in January with the help of our nutritionist to plan for the future.

The portion of our grant that we have not touched upon in 2018 is our Community/Recreation Center.  In 2019, we will be demolishing an 80 year old building that was originally Audubon’s pool house to erect a state of the art building.  Our community is in desperate need of this new facility and it will greatly increase the physical activity of all ages in our community.  If everything goes according to plan, the new building will be up by August.  After that time, with the help of the NJ Healthy Community Grant, we will be able to update the playground and add some calisthenics equipment to the grounds.

This has been a very successful first year.  As word spreads about this amazing grant opportunity, other organizations have been re-energized in our community.  Our Green Team has created a walking club and our business organization has been contemplating a 5k fun walk/run.  The fever to make Audubon a healthier and physically more active town is certainly spreading!  2019 is going to be a good year!
