New Morristown Plaza Built
The Connect to Walk and Bike Committee was very happy and excited to see new development at Martin Luther King Avenue and Coles Street in Morristown. This was an area of assessment during our work in town and the new development has truly transformed this area. The trail head accesses a portion of Patriots’ Path, and is near the Cauldwell Playground. Benches, a bike rack, and plantings have beautified the location and created an invitation to physical activity. The site is also within the portion of town that has lower income homes and multi-family housing. Since Morristown was our first community partner, it is gratifying to see the results of our efforts. In more news, it is expected that an informal neighborhood path into Hedden County Park in Dover, will be officially opened in June. Dover is hosting a cycling event in the park and a ribbon cutting is planned for the start of that event. Although the informal access leads to a wide service road, the entrance has been blocked by gates and fences. The Morris County Park Commission agreed to formalize the trail and make it accessible to pedestrian and bicycle traffic. There is limited parking at the site so it is expected that it will commonly be used by local residents.
