So you would think that growing plants indoors would be a easier path. Well here at Manasquan HIgh School we are learning a different story. We have recently been infested by Aphids and their eggs.
Our plants appeared to be healthy and show no visible signs of problems, then in one day we had some new friends. After conferring with our biology teacher we determined we were harboring aphids, small caterpillars. Without natural predators indoors, pests multiply by the minute. (OK, maybe not that quickly, but it does seem like it!)
So we are in the process of starting new seedlings in order to reduce the risk of another indoor infestation. So we are learning about natural pesticide control such as peppermint oil (therapeutic grade) and water and also peroxide (food grade) and water. Stay tuned for our new plants!!!
