Sussex County YMCA to impact Franklin Borough
The Sussex County YMCA has started on its journey to impact Franklin Borough through healthy eating and active living opportunities. This work is not done single-handedly. With many partners in and around the Borough the Y has targeted two strategies for community health impact.
First, we have partnered with Brick & Brew restaurant owner Bill Elig. Over the next year we will be working to identify and highlight healthy options on his menu. We will be using nutrition software to calculate the nutrition facts of his recipes and to find the NBFTE (Next Best Foods To Eat) to help create healthier menu options.
Secondly, we are partnering with Franklin Borough as we intend to install 10 FitTrail stations in and around the newly renovated Franklin Pond area. The pond area is the home of the Senior Center as well as ball fields and a refreshed swim area. With the addition of the FitTrail system we look forward to offering more opportunity for active living opportunities for those visiting the pond.
