Take Control…of your health!
Through the Live Healthy Vineland- Healthy Worksites project, the Vineland Health Department has been visiting with the employees of Bottino’s ShopRite of Delsea to provide “Check. Change. Control.”, an evidence-based hypertension management program that utilizes blood pressure monitoring to empower the employees to take ownership of their cardiovascular health. Over the 8 week program, employees volunteer to have their blood pressure read and tracked each visit. The goal of the program is to provide those who need help managing their blood pressure with tips and hopefully improve their readings over the entirety of the program.
The program is currently in week 6 with 45 participants. So far, the progress has been great. Those who have desirable blood pressure readings get a great sense of pride and are dedicated to keep it low. On the other hand, those with higher blood pressure readings have shown motivation by learning more about how they can lower their scores and commitment to make a change. It has been very rewarding watching the participants make significant progress and helping those who may not have previously known that they needed it.
