Walking in Elizabeth Healthy Eating Update

To finish out the blog posts for this year, the Walking in Elizabeth project will be doing the second half of the year update focusing more on the Healthy Eating portion of the project.
- Students mapped out the eating environment of the neighborhood including corner stores and supermarkets using GIS (pictured above).
- During the summer students talked and conducted survey with stores and residents of the area to learn more about the healthy eating environment.
- A presentation was made to students at Winfield Scott School 2 over the summer to 7th and 8th grade students that went over healthy eating and physical activity in their neighborhood.
As the end of the year approaches we now are beginning preparations for next year. Students will be spending part of their winter breaks assessing the healthy eating environment of the Catherine and William Street neighborhood.
We hope that you all have a happy holiday season.
