Eat Well Play Hard – Spring Edition

This spring session of Eat Well Play Hard has been busy but also a lot of fun. We are sad to see it reach the end. The children have really enjoyed learning about how food grows and were interested to discover that they can eat plants and some flowers too. They have confidently taken on the role of young chefs as they helped to prepare their own tasty and healthy snacks. Our apple “donuts” were one of their favorites. We spread sun butter on cored apples and topped with dried coconut, raisins, and pieces of pretzels. We read many books including “The Animal Boogie.” This book on tape had everyone up and moving as they pretended to be the various jungle animals. Meanwhile their parents learned tips and tricks for encouraging and modeling healthy eating and physical activities and received many recipes they can make at home with their families. One mother reported that her child used to be a picky eater but now is excited to try new foods!
