Worksite Champions

This month, we were able to attend multiple worksite health fairs. ARC Durand is one of our shinning stars and never disappoints with delivering health and wellness to their employees. Durand is one of our bigger worksites that have joined Live Healthy Cumberland County/Live Healthy Vineland. With over 1,000 employees, Durand strives to lead the way in bringing numerous resources to deliver quality health education.

We were happy to show their team the new worksite toolkit as well as share ideas with them for future events. Connecting with worksites through face-to-face interactions has strengthened the relationship and given us the ability to create lasting change.

One of our biggest parts of working with ARC Durand has been to bring smoking cessation information to their workforce. Year after year, we have brought literature, tools, and resources to the employees to encourage a smoke-free environment.  This year we had an employee visit our table, and he shared the news that he had not smoked in 2 years and 4 months. Not every day do you get to see a person again that you had an impact on over two years ago.

Smoking cessation can be a struggle — you can bring out all the tools in your box, but if the individual is not ready to quit, they won’t. Stories like this encourage all of us to continue striving to reach the community, pushing for a better quality of life for everyone.
